The Night Before Experience
I am one of unlucky ones who did not make it in time to sign up for the XBOX Experience beta. So tonight, much like a kid waiting for Santa or the Hanukkah Zombie or whomever to come bearing gifts, I eagerly await Experience’s public release—an event that should be happening within the next 22 hours! The High School Musical 3: Senior Year DANCE! banner currently looping on my dashboard is taunting me. Maybe I should just go to sleep. As Mister Data learned (only when he turned off his internal chronometer), the watched pot never boils.
EDIT!!! If you perform a Network Settings Test on your 360, your console should find the update!

Completely forgot about the NXE update and when PolyVector and I got home and popped Scarface in the 360 the update popped up and immediately froze our entire Xbox. It didn’t seem to like the simultaneous update/DVD playback combo. Fortunately we were able to restart the console and get everything in order.
So far, I am not sure how I like the new Dashboard. Kind of hard for me to see, very bright and the text is kind of funky. I will have to play with the preferences later and see if some color changes are available. The avatars are neat, but I couldn’t get mine looking just right. I will probably do a more extensive “review” on Atomac later.

Yeah, I had read before that you would not be able to use your 360 during the NXE update. As far as freezing, my new Dashboard consistently freezes after I’ve viewed YOUR profile. Haha. The second time I tried to be patient and waited a few minutes and, just as I was reset the console, it unfroze.
Ryan hates the new Dashboard and was appeased only when I showed him that one could still access a simplified menu by hitting the XBOX button on the controller. I’m a little disappointed about Netflix . They made it sound like it was completely free—alas, you must be a currently subscribing Netflix subscriber. I knew it sounded way too good to be true. Honestly, I’d rather pay for a Playon license and get to watch the shows I actually want to watch, albeit at a lower resolution (big freakin’ deal!)
